Rozzy Sokota Born Rosemarie Baryoh is a young Sierra Leonean singer and songwriter. Rozzy was born to a family of both Sierra Leonean parents. She Grew up mainly in the Freetown municipality and had a brief spell in Banjul, the Gambia.

During Her school days at Freetown Secondary School for Girls (FSSG) and Beacon High School, she played active role in the school band as a lead vocalist and a steel drummer.
At the same time, She was also active in many local churches in Freetown and Banjul as a lead chorister. Therefore it is safe to say her music career actually had its foundation in the church.

Her first album titled “Victory is Mine”, was a 13-track all gospel songs and up till date is still a blessing in the gospel chart.

It is from singing gospel that she added singing moral songs. Today, most of her songs are true stories that mirror the realities of the society. There are songs, such as “Life Goes On”, that gives hope to the lost or the depressed.

In early 2013, she co-founded a live band known as ROZZY B ENTERTAINMENT BAND.

The band is quickly becoming a household name in Sierra Leone because of its versatility at performing different genres of music including Jazz, reggae, gospel, hip-hop, Highlife etc.

The band plays every Friday at the prestigious Sierra Light House Hotel in Freetown.

Rozzy’s role models in the entertainment industry are Whitney Houston, Adele and Tiwa Savage and they have had profound effects on her style of singing.

Achievements

Within this short time in her music career, She has been privileged to participate in several musical shows in Sierra Leone, London, Egypt, and USA. She has also been (guest artist) at various TV/Radio entertainment programs in Sierra Leone and West Africa

Recently she was awarded as one of the 50 Most Influential Sierra Leonean Women and also nominated for the 50 Most Influential Young Sierra Leoneans.

In conclusion, music to Rozzy is life and runs in her veins. Her passion for music cannot be simply described. Although her success in her academic field of accounting, She couldn’t find enough pleasure in doing any other thing than music. This is Rozzay for you, Sokota!!!!!
In early 2017 Rozzy was signed to the prestigious KME, alongside other artist. Some songs have been released and many more to come.

Rozzy Sokota is currently an independent artiste under her own label Sokota Records.
